We will assume soulbeast (smokescale pet) GS/LB and DE Rifle and D/P (before foods, boon increases) as these are common builds. DE's can be in stealth almost indefinatley. Ranger stealth can have just as much as thief and mesmer, That being said, it is not the fault of the players to utilize the best "tools" available for a given play-style. But then again Anet clearly doesn't balance for small-scale WvW and in SPvP stealth has better balance due to more confined spaces and the drawback of preventing the point-capture. Am I able to anticipate the steal? Do I dodge DJ or Binding Shadow? The enjoyment of fights with those builds is so lopsided they qualify as design flaws. Fights are decided by split-second reactions from attacks out of stealth hampered by the ubiquitous lag. He decides when to pick a fight, he decides when to strike and he decides when to leave the scene (and is able to do so). Why is that so?Ī well played stealth-centered thief like a DE is always in control of the fight and dictates the flow. From my experience thiefs are the most-hated (and bali-stomped :p ) class in small-scale WvW. The fight itself though is certainly not very amusing mechanic-wise for a lot of players when you are on the receiving end of the thief's rifle/pistol/dagger. What matters for me most is the question: Is a fight fun for both sides? Sure it might be satisfying to win against a stealth-heavy build thief.
